What we believe, what we're building, and why it matters
Less Fortunate Charity was founded on the belief that every person deserves dignity, support, and a fair chance. Located in the heart of Chicago's South Side, we walk alongside our neighbors through crises, through education, and through every step toward a more stable future.
We envision a Chicago where socioeconomic circumstances do not determine a person's potential โ where every resident, regardless of their background or hardship, has access to food, shelter, education, and employment opportunities. Our vision is not charity for charity's sake, but a community where neighbors truly lift one another up.
These principles shape every program we run, every dollar we spend, and every person we serve.
We approach every interaction with genuine empathy and respect, honoring the dignity of each person who walks through our door.
We operate with full accountability. Our finances, programs, and outcomes are open to our donors and to the communities we serve.
We serve all people without discrimination โ regardless of background, religion, national origin, or immigration status.
We measure success by real outcomes: families stabilized, students supported, jobs secured. Good intentions are not enough.
We are rooted in the neighborhoods we serve. Local input and community partnerships drive our priorities and our work.
Every dollar donated is stewarded with care. We do what we say, and we say what we do โ always.
All donations to Less Fortunate Charity are tax-deductible to the full extent permitted by law.
